Diachronous initiation of Arabia–Eurasia collision from eastern Anatolia to the southeastern Zagros Mountains since middle Eocene time

چکیده
The persistent debate over the timing of initial Arabia–Eurasia collision has eluded consensus for decades, with most estimates ranging widely from ~50 to 10 Ma along both Anatolian and Zagros segments orogen. Here, we independently evaluate location using a quantitative plate tectonic reconstruction that is first include entire Arabian microcontinent regions north in eastern Anatolia, northwestern Iran, Caucasus. combines new kinematic constraints recent global models synthesis available on crustal shortening continental back-arc subduction restore pre-collisional geometries Eurasian margins track their interaction through time. Our preferred model suggests underthrusting, or soft collision, relatively thin passive margin Eurasia occurred by ca. 42 Bitlis suture zone began transmitting strain across central Caucasus, Iran. Collision inception then propagated westward into Anatolia southeastward Mountains late Eocene time (ca. 40–35 Ma), latest early Oligocene time, 35–25 finally southeastern middle Miocene 25–15 Ma). diachroneity Arabia led widespread upper-plate (Eurasian) contraction similarly time-transgressive magmatic lull lagged behind onset ~2–12 Myr. By incorporating north, this highlights diachronous nature during became progressively younger southeast strike zone.

Microbiostratigraphy of Middle Eocene ShahbazanFormation at the southeastern flank of Chenar Anticline,Lurestan Basin, Sw Iran
In this research, biostratigraphy related to the carbonate succession of the Shahbazan Formation at the southeastern flank of Chenar anticline, Lurestan Basin, is discussed. A study of large benthic foraminifera from the 294 mthick Shahbazan Formation led to the identification of two Middle Eocene biozones: Somalina sp. Zone, Nummulites-Alveolina Assemblage Zone. The age of the Shahbazan Format...

chapter i provides an overview of structural linguistics and touches upon the saussurean dichotomies with the final goal of exploring their relevance to the stylistic studies of literature. to provide evidence for the singificance of the study, chapter ii deals with the controversial issue of linguistics and literature, and presents opposing views which, at the same time, have been central to t...
15 صفحه اولMiddle-Late Cambrian acritarchs from the Zardkuh area in the High Zagros Mountains, southern Iran: Stratigraphic and paleogeographic implications
The excellent preservation of the acritarchs, their great abundance, diversity and good stratigraphic control permit establishment of a detailed Middle and Late Cambrian acritarch biozonation. A total of 56 palynomorph species form the basis of 10 local acritarch assemblage zones. Assemblage zones I-II occur in the lower and middle parts of the Member C of the Mila Formation and suggest Early-m...

15 صفحه اولLocations of selected small earthquakes in the Zagros mountains
[1] The Zagros mountains of southern Iran are marked by a zone of high seismicity and accommodate a significant portion of the convergence between Arabia and Eurasia. Due to the lack of dense local seismic or geodetic networks, the inferred kinematics of the collision in Iran is mainly based on catalogs of teleseismically determined earthquake locations. We surveyed all Mw > 4.5 earthquakes in ...
